Environmental Pollution Posted on : Feb 4 2008 Permalink 7 comments
Our wayward ways have led to problems that hurt our very own existence. The wanton hurling of toxic solid waste and liquid waste into water bodies and on land has risen to monstrous proportions. The menace of chemical and industrial pollution is growing with every passing day and the problem is becoming even more unwieldy. Let’s get our act together for a better, cleaner and healthier world!
The environmental cost of economic wonders is just too high - poisoning rivers, raw sewage that gives rise to near-epidemics of waterborne diseases, and soil contamination etc. Why can't countries feel the need to control their ambitious plans that often lead to internal clashes and protests from environmentalists.
Well, one of the most polluted countries, China has announced plans to invest $175 billion (1.4 trillion yuan) in environmental protection between 2006 and 2010. The money apparently is equal to more than 1.5 percent of China’s annual gross domestic product (GDP) and will be used to control water pollution, improve air quality in China’s cities and increase solid waste disposal. I hope that will is for real.
It’s such an irony to have a situation like this staring at you when there are regulations and strategies in place almost everywhere to control environmental pollution and emissions for most major industries. Finally, you get back what you give.
CAUTION! too many companies are producing packaging in excess - most of which are shrink sleeves and labels that are bio-nondegradable. but ask Dabur, GSK and Pepsi if they care.
i have often wondered what's in the clear liquid we drink everyday? after reading reports consistently about every water body around me, i'm not sure i want to drink freshwater anymore. But is mineral water safe, unpolluted?? somebody help!!
it's an existential question indeed: how many years do we want to give mankind on this planet? none of us have a figure in mind, but guess what, the environment does!
The people are trying to get somewhere faster, but getting there on time. Is this not telling us something., if not Im sorry for their time on earth.
